This sextet is a series of romanticized musical images of space, and is my earliest work in which the development of my own musical voice is evident. When I composed it, I had this loose narrative idea for an explorer named Gnarlfeld Lincoln CXII (read: the a hundred and twelfth) and his journey through space, but that story doesn’t really have any details and so the piece probably isn’t really about that.
