Premiered by the Ivalas Quartet in Boulder, Colorado on February 19th, 2021.

Composed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 protests, this quartet reflects a sense of collective grief, helplessness, and disconnection. Unlike my second quartet, which was centered on personal crisis, The Spectator was written from the outside looking in—responding not only to fear of death, but to its constant presence in the world around me.
