My first (acceptable) orchestral work. This was originally intended to be the first movement of a complete oceanic symphony, which would’ve had some kind of narrative about sailing the Pacific. After finishing this movement, while I did have ideas for the other three movements, I was pretty quickly fatigued of my oceanic symphony idea, and so it just became too difficult for me to write the rest of the piece. Fortunately, I think the bit that I did write does well as a standalone maritime piece, and I’m proud that this is my first orchestral work.
